Help Dundee find its new Dundee Baby.
Dundee Mills has instructed its original infant representative, now aged 62, to return to Dundee and identify a successor. Dundee Baby is maintaining the public process through which the role, the search and the eventual appointment will be determined.

Primary assignment
Dundee will define the succession.
The original Dundee Baby will open the search. Dundee will help decide what the new Dundee Baby should represent, who or what may qualify, and how the appointment should be made.
Residents, families, young people, former mill families, schools, community organisations, artists, businesses and institutions may propose criteria, enter material in the public file, nominate a possible successor or help deliver the programme.

The successor may ultimately be an individual, group, family, creative work or rotating cohort. Local consultation will determine whether any of those forms should proceed.
The search is not a conventional beauty competition.

Help write the search brief
Advise what the new Dundee Baby should represent, who should be eligible, what public duties would be appropriate and how the selection should work.

You retain control: Material will not be published merely because it has been submitted. Use and attribution will be agreed separately.

The inquiry will separate private expressions of interest from material approved for publication.
No name, image, story or nomination will enter the public programme without a clear further agreement. People may contribute privately, request attribution, remain anonymous in the published record or withdraw before publication, subject to any filing already expressly approved.
Participation involving children or vulnerable people will require an agreed safeguarding process, appropriate adult authority and a specific explanation of how material may be used.

Seven stages. One appointment and a public recommendation.
Each stage will be documented before the inquiry advances. Dundee may alter the sequence where local advice, safety or practical conditions require it.
Notice of Maturity
Dundee Mills records that its original infant representative has reached the age of 62 and instructs him to return to Dundee in search of a successor.
Public record: Revised Notice of Maturity, appointment record, programme announcement and initial responses.
Dundee Briefings
Existing civic, community, cultural, education, business and tourism organisations will identify relevant work, audiences, concerns and opportunities.
Public work: A fit map recording useful connections, duplication risks, objections and areas where the programme should stay out of the way.
The Search Brief
Dundee contributors will help establish the purpose of the role, eligibility, appointment term, public duties, selection method and appropriate limits.
Public work: Search rules incorporating consent, privacy, safeguarding, accessibility, compensation and image-use controls.
The Public Search
Nominations, expressions of interest, family stories, portraits, creative submissions and partner-hosted appearances will enter the process under the agreed rules.
Public work: A Dundee-wide invitation supported by local organisations and an accessible private route for initial submissions.
Dundee Model Citizens
Dundee residents and creative practitioners will be commissioned to turn the search into portraits, films, performances, tours, designs, events and other useful public work.
Public work: Paid local commissions, participant-approved publication and a record of local hours and expenditure.
The Public Hearing
The proposed appointment, the conduct of the search, objections and any related Dundee programme findings will be examined on the public record.
Public work: Questions, responses, corrections, candidate or format considerations and unresolved concerns stated before a decision.
Appointment & Dundee Recommendation
The inquiry will present the new Dundee Baby, if an appointment has earned sufficient support, and report separately on what related activity should proceed, change or stop.
Public work: Appointment, presentation, impact record, objections, lessons and recommendations for any continuing programme.

Dundee Mills is separately examining a discreet, washable absorbent undergarment intended primarily for light bladder leakage.
Specialists, users, carers, designers, makers and businesses may submit relevant technical or commercial evidence. No specification, Dundee manufacturing proposal or commercial programme has been approved.
The successor search does not depend on the product proceeding, and participation in the search does not imply support for the product study.
